I have been debugging my scripts using echo commands littered around my scripts. But I am finding this increasingly difficult as the number of loops (and included files) in my scripts increase.

Is there a way that I can exit my script at a specific point and output the variables at that point?

When developing JavaScript I found the alert command useful.

Also is there something that I could step through my scripts command by command?

Thanks,

Dom.
