Basically, virtual hosts allow you to host more than one site on a single server. The web server will use the Host header (i.e. the domain name) to determine where the files for the site are stored, rather than serving the same files for every domain.
Assuming you're using Apache, there is documentation available. |

I wound't recommend that you use Abyss in a production environment, especially since the project's development status on sourceforge is currently set to Beta. Apache is definitely the way to go |

You want to host people on windows 98?
Windows 98 is not exactly a server grade os, some people would go as far as saying that windows <insert any version here> isn't suitable for a server, but trying to host people on windows 98 is quite laughable, next you will be telling us your computer is connected to your 56k modem |

Ok, coming here has proved valuable. Tonight i plan to install redhat linux.
Then i plan to run some version of apache (any ideas which is best suited for me?)
Then i plan to setup a mail server (again, which would be best?)

I would just stick with whatever versions come with red hat, as they would have been tested with/compiled for the rest of the system |
