OK, I just started playing with apache on this lovely 'lil' machine of mine, and I can't get it to serve any pages. I created index.html in my document root (/var/www/), but I get an error 404. anyone know why this could be?
Also, if you wanna try it, goto [link removed] and you'll see what I mean. |

Have you tried looking in /home/httpd? Or have you tried just generally looking round for any possible folder your files could go in? |

lol...according to httpd.conf /var/www is the DocumentRoot, and it is serving the apache manual out of there fine... |

I know this sounds stupid, but I read something about apache 2.0.xx having this problem, have you tried putting another file in there under a different name? |

hmm....looks as though the files need to go in /var/www/html/ which is odd, 'cause when I tried that earlier it didn't work...perhaps the apache reboot I did fixed something. in any case, it's working now |
