 help with address please

if i have a domain name with easily.co.uk (www.foxforum.co.uk)
and my forum is on my pc server (c/apacha group/apacha2/htdocs/phpbb2 ) and my internet ip is 34.34.43.23 and my inernal ip for my pc is 192.192.192.2 wot address would i point my domain name at would it be eg

http://34.34.43.23/192.192.192.2/phpbb2/index.php

or

http://34.34.43.23/localhost/phpbb2/index.php

not forgetting im using port 80 so would that be in there some were
can any one help im a bit stuck on this ??????????

192.192.192.2 doesn't appear in the address. Only 34.34.43.23 should. You have to forward requests to your router (the way to do this will depend on your router) on port 80 to 192.192.192.2, and then use http://34.34.43.23/phpbb2/index.php as the URL.

and if you're not sure how to forward ports on your router check out this site for some good help. http://www.portforward.com/ Smile

So basic steps would be


  • Point domain name to internet IP (34.34.43.23)
  • tell your router to forward any requests on port 80 to the machine with the webserver (192.192.192.2) (using the site above for help if needed)
  • make sure your webserver machine is set up to correctly handle requests on port 80 and display the correct folder/site.
