PHPBB Avatar permission error

Could anyone please tell me why my phpBB board will not upload Avatars and when i try i get the following errors.

would it work if I set the Avatars folder to CHMOD 777 (or sometiing else)?

Yes, try that. Then see if it works. And check out the docs - I think that's what they tell you to do Wink

I have tried it and it did work, but is 777 what the folder should be set to?

Yes, 777 is correct for a directory which you want to be able to upload files to.
