Summer Time

How should we handle it? Should I ask everyone to move their timezone forward?

This is the way it works:

All times are stored in a timestamp, which is GMT.

Then, phpBB adds or substracts hours according to the timezone, but not according to summer & winter time.

I've asked for help at the phpBB Forums, they'll probably have some ideas.

The way it currently works is the following:

- The profile timezone selection has been changed to only include the GMT offset.
- During the summer, the time is put ahead one hour everywhere on the board, without any action on your part
- During the winter, the time is put back to winter time, and the timezone select is modified so that it says GMT instead of GMT +1, GMT +1 instead of GMT +2, etc... No action is required on your part for this.

The board has been changed back to winter time. You shouldn't have to do anything.

Some how my profile ended up getting set to GMT-1.

Anything to do with the fact I had already changed it from GMT+1 to GMT?

Yes, that would be the reason. The value in the database would then have been '-1'.

I have moved all times forward an hour. I have also made changes to the active topics on the home page, which now should display the time based on the timezone in your profile (ie: I am in France, my timezone was set to GMT +1, it was moved to GMT +2, and the active topics are now also on GMT +2).

This post should show up as having been made at 10:30 if you are on GMT +2, 09:30 if you are on GMT +1 (British Summer Time), or 08:30 if you are on GMT (see Profile page for setting).

do you have to do this manually? or is it automatic?

I have to do it manually. I guess I could code it in to make the changes I make automatically twice a year, but I haven't got round to it, especially as phpBB 2.2 might be out next time I do it (the feature is already included in it and each user can change the option themselves).
