Can I use mod_rewrite on f2s servers?

Hi,

I have been using .htaccess file for redirection and other purposes, but whenever I try mod_rewrite I get problems.

For instance:

Code:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "BadBot"
RewriteRule /.* / [F]

Produces the error:

Quote:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server

In fact, just

Code:

RewriteEngine on

or

Code:

RewriteEngine off

Produces the same error:

Quote:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server

According to PHP-Info the mod_rewrite module is loaded.

So, can I use mod_rewrite? If so, what is the correct syntax?

Hiya,

You trying to use it on a .f2s.com subdomain or your own domain name?

Just I'll test the servers and see what I can do first thing tomorrow morning if you answer me the above.

So, looks like I can't use mod_rewrite.

I wanted to use it as a means of banning robots - eg:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "BadBot"
RewriteRule /.* / [F]
